Yes, it's the same story. This is a much older translation though, and it's filtered through the sensibilities of that time. It's one of a collection of otogi-zoshi stories that exist in different forms. The first collection that includes it stems from the Muromachi period (14th-16th century), whereas the most common one is from the Edo period (17th-19th century). A lot can change in the handing down of a story between those eras, or indeed in the hundreds of years beforehand. It might not even be a Japanese story at all, but one copied from China. In some versions of the story, Tamamo comes from China in the 11th century and then becomes a courtesan of Emperor Konoe in the 12th century. It all gets very complicated when you start looking for detail. The problems of these stories of unknown authorship is most obvious in the story of Momotaro. Everyone knows he was born from a peach. Except in some versions he was floating down the river in a box, in others, there were to boxes (and he was in the red one) and in others still the mother is an old lady who eats a peach to regain her youth before giving birth. There's no definitive version. But the one taught in schools has the peach, so that's what people remember. Plus the name - Momotaro. His name is an obvious allusion to peaches. Except in all the other stories where he's just Taro. It'll drive you mad trying to find the definitive story. Compare this with Western folk tales. Ours seem more settled largely because of the Grimm Brothers, Hans Christian Andersen and, well, Disney. Cinderella will now forever have a glass slipper. But in older versions, it was a fur slipper, which makes considerable more sense, but that variation has almost been lost because the current version is so cemented in memory. I read this story from a translation that is out of copyright, because I was doing it for the radio and the terms of our license cover us for music rather than prose. And one of the main things that gets messed up in these early British translations is the names. There's a pinned comment here talking about how weird it is to hear the names said as they are in this recording. And of course this translation was before the current Romaji system of transcribing Japanese into the Latin character set, so Edo is Yedo, Kyoto is Kioto or Kiodo. There's even three different versions of Romaji in use now... argh.

You should start by telling me some things. You're using ArmA 3. You're using the editor. Did you place the Ambient Zombies module? Did you configure it? And when you say that zombies don't spawn is this no zombies at all after moving around in game for a while? Or did you start a game and didn't see any straight away? The game does make sure when the player spawns, you don't end up with zombies right next to you. Tell me more about your situation and I'm sure I can help.

It's unable to find some of the files. This is likely because the pirate version didn't set up all the registry keys properly. There's a couple of way of fixing this. The easiest is probably this: In your program folder, you'll have a folder like this: expansions/beta/expansions/Addons Go into there and copy all the files within it, to: expansions/Addons Or you can alter the shortcut. You've probably got a shortcut that end in something like this: -mod=@DayZX You can change it to this: -mod=@DayZX;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion It'll do the same thing as copying the files. Do one or the other.

@@shalehjeevransarapuddin9414 What's probably wrong is that the pirate version isn't up to date with the beta patches - these were released after the final version of Operation Arrowhead. All I can suggest is downloading the latest one, installing it and trying again: www.arma2.com/beta-patches You may have to do the copying as in my first comment. They're 2,000KB unformatted. The boxes will often say "2.0MB unformatted" but that's using a decimal interpretation of what a megabyte is - which is where a lot of the confusion about floppies comes in.

There is a bug - an oversight on my part. I forgot that backpacks were only introduced in Operation Arrowhead. As all the characters from the original ArmA 2 were included, that means there are character models that can't pick up backpacks. If your character has a scarf or headphones, it's an ArmA 2 character and can't use backpacks. In the video, you can see me picking one up at 15:48. If you're not able to do so in the same way, you'll need to change clothes - changing clothes changes the character model. The particular mod in this video is derived from the original one I did, so I think it has the same bug. But it may also have the cheat that's hidden in the original (I can't recall from memory if it does). Press 0 (zero) on the main keyboard (not the numeric keypad), then press 0 (zero) again. You should see a small green menu on the screen. One of the options is the 'magicbox'. Selecting that (by the number next to it) will cause a box of stuff to appear. This includes clothing and backpacks. So hopefully that's still in there and you'll be able to sort yourself out. There are also weapons and things in there. The box disappears after a minute or two, so it won't be there to spoil the game.

The AI respawns. There are no traders. There is a building system (taken from Epoch). I must warn you that building systems don't work too well. When ArmA maps are made, there is a navmesh 'baked' into them at the time of creation. It's what AI (and zombie) units use to find their way around. So when you place anything on the map during play, the navmesh is not changed. So you might find that zombies and AI units just walk right through the walls. (The same thing happens in ArmA 3 by the way).

This is the closest thing to the original DayZ. It was designed to be as close as possible to the original DayZ mod experience. So that means that the loot you find is as it was in the original and vehicles are rare. Whereas DayZ X is a more updated, modernised version that doesn't stick to the original. So this is the one you want. There's a couple of things worth noting though: Helicopter crashes don't spawn military loot like they do in the original mod. We messed up the uniforms slightly - if you spawn as a scarf-wearing pilot type, you won't be able to wear a backpack (either restart until you're not that guy or choose to be a woman). And finally, eventually the game will start to struggle - on the original, servers needed to be rebooted every few hours or so otherwise loot would stop appearing. This is the same. To mitigate this problem, you should use cheats - eg Loki's Lost Key, linked in the description - to regain your inventory and location. There is also an extra cheat built in - press 0 (zero) on the main keyboard (not the numeric keypad, 0 again and then you'll see a little menu in the top right. Press 5 to select the Magicbox. This spawns a crate full of stuff. It also includes uniforms that can solve the backpack problem. The crate disappears after a short time, so you can't just keep coming back to it.

I didn't even manage it to stay alive few hours yet so I didn't experienced it :DD how does even respawn of loot work here? Can you elaborate how to use that Loki's Lost key? And is it necessary to restart game on Dayz X too? I guess I understand how to install it but how does it work and what does it do? And how long are days set? I found out one glitch, I think it's in base game but can you advice me how to prevent it? When I have weapon in primary slot and pick up another weapon, my first weapon disappear instead of droping on the ground. And I see in this version is different inventory, what are differences between them? And last thing how do I interact with AIs? Most of it is about installing it, but if you scroll down, it tells you how to use it. kodabar.blogspot.com/2012/12/how-to-install-lokis-lost-key-for-daizy.html You do need to start a new game to add Loki. Whenever you add a mod, you need to restart. I think time is set to 10 times real speed. It was long ago when this was done, so I'm not entirely sure. If you pick up a watch, you'll be able to see how quickly it is moving. It's the same as it was on standard DayZ servers from back then. The weapon glitch was in the original mod. You have to be very careful when picking up or changing main weapons. Essentially, you can only have one main weapon. To carry another, you need to put it in your backpack. When changing between them you either have to put your existing weapon in your backpack as well or put it down on the ground before switching to it. This is enormously annoying to do and you can easily lose a weapon from a slight mistake. The inventory is slightly different in this version, but almost all of the differences are visual. The way to interact with AIs is to run up to them, look at them and then use the action/mousewheel menu. If they are friendly, the mousewheel menu (appears in the top left) will offer "Recruit unit". Most AI are unfriendly. In Electrozavodsk there are some friendlies that will join you automatically. There's a church across the road from a fire station. As you approach the front doors of the church, a couple of friendly units will appear and join you (without needing to use the menu). Once you have friendly units in your party, you can command them from the action menu or the map. You won't need to do this, other than to tell them to get in a vehicle. You'll see their portrait in the bottom left of the screen and you can select them with the F keys. So F1 for the fist unit, F2 for the second, etc. And then order them with the action/mousewheel menu. Oh, I almost forgot, you asked about loot respawning. As far as I remember, it's once every in-game day. But I think loot doesn't respawn near you. I'm sorry to be so vague - this was over ten years ago. So if you go into a town, clear out all the loot, then leave the town, the next game day loot should have respawned.

And how should I proceed when this happens? And can I create inn this version and Dayz X own blood bags or there are only these ones which can only someone othe trasfer it and if so can AI unit transfer it? @@jendak2653 Loot stops spawning because your computer needs to keep track of every item that spawns. When you approach a building, there is no loot inside it. Once you reach a certain distance from the building (about 100 metres if I remember correctly), then the loot spawns. Once it has spawned, the computer has to track it. Once you've been to a lot of places, the computer has to track more and more items until it's too much for it and keeping track of existing items leaves it without enough processor time to calculate and spawn new items. You need to play for several (real life) hours for this to happen. This also used to happen to DayZ servers, which is why they were always rebooted every few hours. This affects DaiZy and DayZ X equally (because DayZ X is based on DaiZy). Eventually it even begins to affect zombie spawning. When this happens, you need to restart the game - which will begin with a fresh map with nothing spawned. The important things that you'll want to carry over are your location and your inventory. Nothing else matters. You can use Loki's Lost Key to give yourself all the inventory items you had and use its teleport function to put yourself back where you were. Hardly ideal, but it solves the problem.

Is the problem with the DayZ Launcher (for ArmA 2) or the DZSALauncher (for DayZ standalone)? I might be able to help, but it's been a long time since I looked at this, so I certainly can't promise anything.

@@kodabar Thanks for replying so quick, it's a problem with the Daylauncher for Arma 2, i've used it since about 2017, then updated it about two weeks ago and since then hasn't opened without a message saying "the launcher was unable to download the server list, no local copy has been saved..." When clicking the OK in that box it just closes and that's that, i've uninstalled Arma 2 , OA, Steam, several times, Run as Admin and all but resigned myself to not playing it online again, (glad i found your video actually) any ideas would be very appreciated,

@@stwhat6014 Ah, this is the worst possible error. There are several possible things that can cause it (and a couple of impossible ones too). And that's the problem - there isn't just one cause, so there isn't just one answer. Given what you've already tried and that you haven't updated it for years, the thing I would recommend is to update the Visual C and dot Net runtimes. There are several different versions of the Visual C runtime files and you may need multiple versions. Ugh. This link is to an installer that will add all of them. You may find that it complains about something already being installed. This is normal. If the option to repair is there - use it. That will always happen eventually. Back in the day, servers would need to be restarted every few hours. This was because every item that spawned was tracked forever and eventually the amount of zombies and loot that had been created would occupy all the spare processing cycles and there was no capacity for new ones. So when servers were restarted, they 'forgot' about all the items they were tracking and began again. It's the same with this single player version. It eventually has so many items to track that it just gets bogged down. The solution is to start a new game. The important things to carry over are your inventory and your location. In the video description, there's a link to Loki's Lost Key, which allows you to change your loadout and teleport, so you can begin a new game, use Loki and be back where you were before. If you don't want the hassle of adding another mod, there is a secret cheat that we built in to the default version, which ought to be present in this modified version (I didn't make DayZ X). On the main keyboard (not the numeric keypad), press 0 (zero), 0 again and you'll see a little menu in the top left of the screen, which allows you to select the 'magicbox' by pressing the appropriate number. This will spawn a crate near you, that contains a ton of weapons and clothing. It will disappear after a few minutes, so you won't be tempted to keep going back to it. Use that to gear yourself up. You won't be able to teleport to your previous position, but maybe that's okay?

I had a blast playing this all day today and will consider the magicbox on the next play session and will also fiddle around with Loki. But one thing that worked well for gearing me up was to "Call for support" on the ESC Menu which allowed me to airdrop all types of guns and vehicles i could need

That's a very good question and I wish I knew the answer. It uses four screws to mount the board. I'm afraid I don't have any other PCBs that would physically fit in the case. Most numpad PCBs I've seen (which is not many) have mounting holes at the corners, whereas this one has them set in by one column and one row (apart from one, which is two rows up from the bottom). I suspect that means this is a proprietary layout which isn't compatible with others. I don't know for sure though.

Basically, this is emulating a server setup. If you remember what the online mod was like back then, servers needed to be reset regularly - otherwise they're get slow and clunky trying to keep track of all the objects. So eventually (depending on the power of your computer), this will get the same way. And there's no easy way around it. However, all that really matters is your location and inventory. So you can use Loki's Lost Key (in the description above) to cheat both. So if your game gets slow, start a new one and teleport to your old position and cheat in your previous inventory. It's not ideal, but it's all you can do really.

Hmm, that's unusual. I can't remember ever seeing that before. Let's just go over a couple of things. I do apologies if some of these question seem moot or obviated, but it's best to be sure without assuming. 1. You have ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead installed - yes? You need both. Or the combined pack that includes them both. 2. Ideally, you should have run each one individually at least once before trying to play this mod. That's because each places items in the Windows registry when first run, but now when run with mods. Have you run both of them (without mods) like that? You just need to start them up to the main menu and then quit out. 3. Are these on Steam? Or are they outwith Steam? Steam versions are always fully up-to-date. Non-Steam (or even pirated - not that I mind) versions may be older versions. The mod version of DayZ always required the latest versions of ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead - to the point that OA even required beta patches to be installed. 4. During the installation You took the ZIP file from the link above and placed the two folders in your OA folder - yes? 5. You have edited the shortcut with the -mod=... bit. Did you remember to put the @ sign in there? People commonly forget. It should read -mod=@DayZX (to match the folder name). Yes? 6. When you're picking the scenario, you are choosing DayZ X (or DayZ X No AI) - yes? A common problem is in OA not recognising the installation of ArmA 2. And that's where the Chernarus (land you play on) files are located. Usually it would give an error about deleted or missing content. There are multiple ways to solve this. The easiest is to go into the ArmA 2 folder, look for a sub-folder called Addons and copy and paste that into the main OA folder. That's where the Chernarus files live. This is a harmless thing to do, so might be worth doing regardless of anything else.

Do you have ArmA 2 installed (as well as Operation Arrowhead)? It is most likely missing the Chernarus files, which are part of ArmA 2. There's a few ways to solve this, but the easiest is to go into the ArmA 2 folder, look for a sub-folder called "Addons" and copy that into the Operation Arrowhead folder. It contains the Chernarus files.

What happened? If you look through the other comments from this month, you'll see people confirming that it does work. Nothing has changed about this recently. The upload is the same as it has been for years. ArmA 2 hasn't been updated either.

I'm afraid it does need DLC, namely: Helicopters Apex Malden Laws of War Tanks Contact Western Sahara Generally one needs Apex and Contact for much of ArmA 3 play. Those are the 'big' DLC expansions.
